Alison Lowell
Active in contemporary music, Alison
has performed new works as part of the Lucerne Festival Academy,
International Ensemble Modern Akademie, June in Buffalo Contemporary
Music Festival, the Weill Music Institute's Young Professionals
Training Workshop at Carnegie Hall with Steve Reich, and the Monday Evening Concert Series in Los Angeles, among others. Her ensemble Out of Context
presents new works and has presented composition masterclasses at both
Southern Oregon University and the University of Missouri at Kansas
City. As a chamber musician, Alison performs with many Los Angeles ensembles. A performer on period instruments, Alison plays with
Harmonia Baroque and the shawm and sackbutt ensemble Loud Band.
Her baroque oboe experience includes concerts with the Dallas Bach
Society, Rochester Early Music Festival, and the Corona Del Mar
Festival. Along with joint winners David Plylar (composer/pianist) and pianist Tom Lee, Alison completed a concert tour of Western Washington State as a winner of the 2008 Ladies Musical Club of Seattle Competition. Alison holds degrees from the Eastman School of Music and the University of Southern
California.
