Active in contemporary music, Alison
has performed with the Lucerne Festival Academy with conductor Pierre Boulez,
the Ensemble Modern Festival Akademie, the June in Buffalo Contemporary Music
Festival, the Monday Evening Concert Series, and as part of the North American
premiere of Wolfgang Rihm’s opera “Proserpina” with the Spoleto USA Festival. As
co-artistic director of the chamber ensemble Out of Context, she
presents new works across the country and recently received funding from
"Meet the Composer" MetLife Creative Connections for a tour of
western NY. Alison is the recipient of an
"Investing in Artists" grant from the Center for Cultural Innovation for an extended
range oboe and believes strongly in promoting music and projects that feature
this instrument (www.loboeproject.blogspot.com). A frequent performer on period
instruments, Alison has been a guest artist with ensembles such as the Bach
Collegium San Diego, Harmonia Baroque, Conspirare, and the Rochester Early
Music Festival. Her principal teachers include Richard Killmer, Allan Vogel and
David Weiss and holds degrees from the Eastman School of Music and the
